Clothing & equipment

We recommend a layered clothing, comfortable long hiking pants (possibly light coloured), hiking shoes, waterproof jacket and/or raincoat, sun cap, sunglasses, sunscreen, backpack, packed lunch (if required), snacks, 1 liter water bottle (2 liters in summer).
The use of trekking poles is recommended. The use of cotton clothing is not recommended: if possible wear technical hiking clothes.
The Guide reserves the right to exclude anyone who comes with clothing and equipment not suitable for the hike.

General list of recommended clothing

Year round clothing

  • Lug-soled shoes (for “T” grade walks)
  • Hiking shoes (for “E- and E” grade hikes)
  • Sturdy hiking shoes, above the ankle (for “E+ and EE” grade hikes)
  • Hiking socks
  • T-shirt (no cotton)
  • Long hiking pants, possibly light coloured.
  • Long-sleeved sweater or fleece jacket (depending on season)
  • Sun cap
  • Rain shell, waterproof/breathable jacket

Additional clothing October to April

  • Warm hat and gloves
  • Warm sweater of wicking material such as merino wool or fleece, or light down jacket
  • Scarf or neck gaiter (preferable)
  • Insulated pants (January and February only)

Additional clothing 2+ days treks

  • Underwear
  • One pair of Hiking socks for every two days of your trip, plus an extra pair
  • Swimsuit (if required)
  • Casual clothes
  • Sandals
